Sin
Once upon a time there was a princess who took one look at a prince, and decided he was not for her. It was the essence of smugness that hung about his eyes, the sneer, the haughty gaze that spoke of treating people as things. Despite all that, he was handsome. Enough so that he easily caught a wife. A noble lady. Not a princess, though. The thought ate at him. It irked him as he tried to sleep. It pulled at him with each forkful of a meal. It rankled with each fitting of superior cloth. This thought that he had not been given what he deserved. The princess, on the other hand, thought she deserved love. She got it, too. It's what happens when you don't treat people as things.
